Digital Nexus: Interdisciplinary Integration in Art and Craft
Kayseri Merkez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, with its rich historical heritage and central location, stands as a leading institution in vocational education in the region. Considering Kayseri’s prominent role in the history of trade, art, and production, the school’s mission to merge this legacy with a contemporary vision holds great significance.
In this context, the “Digital Nexus” project aims to enhance students’ technical and creative skills by integrating physical and digital production processes. The project transforms the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education model into the STEAM model by incorporating Art and Design, enabling students to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to art and craft-based projects.
The school’s facilities, including illustration, animation, CNC machines, and 3D printers, provide students with opportunities to produce both tangible and digital projects. Digital Nexus strengthens the connection between these tools, creating a platform where students can bring their creative ideas to life. It also fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills among students.
By combining Kayseri’s historical and cultural heritage with modern production technologies, this project prioritizes both individual creativity and social contribution. Digital Nexus has the potential to position Kayseri as a hub for innovation in art and craft while shaping the future of these disciplines.
