Adaptar / Youssra Kabbou

The Adaptar: Art & Craft Hub addresses Kayseri’s growing need for dedicated art and craft spaces. While small art workshops in cafes have gained popularity, the city lacks a central hub for creative expression. This project aims to fill that gap by creating a versatile and inclusive space for artists, students, and the community to gather, learn, and create.

At its core, the concept revolves around adaptability and inclusivity, brought to life through a circular building design. Each floor of the circular structure houses unique exhibition spaces, showcasing a diverse range of art and craft forms. The building’s vertical circulation is seamlessly integrated with ramps, allowing visitors to experience the exhibitions as a continuous, fluid journey that connects the floors both visually and spatially.

The hub is designed to host a variety of activities, from workshops and exhibitions to community discussions and pop-up markets. Its flexible layout, achieved through partitions and multifunctional zones, allows spaces to merge, expand, or transform as needed, catering to events of varying scales.

The program includes specialized workshops for ceramics, textiles, woodworking, and digital design, alongside artist studios, a café, and community engagement zones. An auditorium and outdoor performance stage enhance its cultural offerings, while a library and resource center support education and research. With its dynamic and adaptable design, the hub becomes a vibrant focal point for creativity and collaboration in Kayseri.
