Creative Recycling Center / İrem Koca

The Creative Recycling Center is designed to harmonize art, sustainability, and vocational education by transforming waste materials from Kayseri’s industrial zone and schools into innovative creations such as sculptures, toys, and jewelry. Strategically located next to the historic Kayseri Central Vocational and Technical High School, the center aims to foster a dynamic learning environment where students can merge technical expertise with artistic expression through hands-on workshops. This initiative enhances the perception of vocational schools by spotlighting students’ capabilities in both industrial craftsmanship and creative design. By hosting exhibitions, interactive workshops, and community events, the center will serve as a platform to inspire sustainable practices, promote vocational training, and contribute to the cultural fabric of Kayseri. The building’s architectural design pays homage to the surrounding historical context, particularly the historic dome nearby. The angled orientation of the structure creates a visual dialogue with the dome, while the openings on the façade echo this angle, ensuring a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic. Additionally, the spatial arrangement of the building ensures a balanced public-private relationship. The exhibition area invites people in by acting as a showcase in the building. The transparency and fluidity of the structure not only highlight the works produced within but also establish the center as a beacon of sustainability, education, and cultural renewal in Kayseri.
