AEROPOINT / Büşranur Özdemir
AeroPoint creates a contemporary design that is suitable for the changing times by considering the past and future of Sinasos together. When we dive into the beginning of the project, we see that the Maraşoğlu Bridge connected Gavras and Yeni Mahalle in the past, and in this project, I address the concept of SINGULARITY, which comes from physics, that is, a substance completely moving away from the concept of time and space and becoming infinite, and I ensure that people follow historical buildings and reach my design, and witness the connection of neighborhoods from a bridge designed with a contemporary interpretation, and experience the feeling of DWELLING to the fullest.
In addition, in this project where there are contrasts, while examining the concepts of ‘stereotomic and tectonic’, I also touch on the difference between ‘feeling free and being isolated’ in the Aviation theme that forms the building program of the project. So how do I do this? For example, while people feel free with the excitement it gives at its height while passing through the bridge, they experience the feeling of being isolated in the acoustic hall for common use underground. In addition to these, the stairs I have designed show how people determined the routes they used to reach other places in the past. In addition, since these stairs pass through the buildings in my design, they represent the trust between the Turkish and Greek communities that existed in the past. In addition, the reason I chose the Aviation theme is that the area covers many points historically, but aviation is a phenomenon that will be experienced more recently there.
If I were to briefly mention the design of the building, I would also like to mention The Hotel Museum Antakya and The Highline Street, which I used as case buildings. Because in the main mass, just like in the museum, I open gallery spaces and allow people living on the upper floor to experience the exhibition on the lower floor. Apart from this, in the part where I use the existing floors as a lecture hall, I enable people to experience the area by carrying out educational activities in a semi-open space. In the relatively smaller mass at the other end of the bridge, I ensure that people in the square are drawn to my area and again I apply the concept of hailation with common and private areas.
