THE PATH / Hande Çadırcı

The project, called THE PATH, embraces nature by seamlessly blending into the landscape, inspired by the underground settlements of Sinasos (Mustafapaşa). These historic spaces, once part of ancient pilgrimage routes, connected sacred sites and carried deep cultural and spiritual significance. By embedding functional areas underground, THE PATH preserves the natural surroundings while creating tranquil, insulated spaces that feel rooted in the earth.

One of the most striking features of THE PATH is the extended seyir terası (viewing terrace), which projects outward like a bridge from the main structure. This terrace extends into the landscape, offering a panoramic view of Sinasos, as if seeing it through the lens of a time capsule. The design invites visitors to step out from the enclosed mass of the building and connect with the broader environment. The terrace’s form establishes a symbolic link between the present and the past, providing a contemplative space to reflect on the cultural layers of the area.

At the heart of the design is the central corridor, which connects all parts of the structure. Together, the corridor and the terrace create a seamless journey through the building, balancing functionality, historical homage, and a deep engagement with the surrounding landscape.
