RECYCLING & REUSE MUSEUM | KAHRAMANMARAŞ
From Ruin to Renewal, From Waste to Worth

Kahramanmaraş’s strong textile identity and the reinforced concrete debris left behind after the earthquakes formed the foundation of this project. While the concrete waste was reused as aggregate, the low rate of textile recycling—despite the city’s extensive fabric production—was a key issue that shaped the project’s direction.

In this context, the Recycling & Reuse Museum was designed as a sustainability-oriented space for awareness and creative production. In addition to the museum building, the project includes:

– A Zero Waste Restaurant
– Two Conceptual Upcycling Workshop Spaces
– A Conference Hall
– An Administrative Building
– A large Recycling Market where repurposed products are exhibited and sold

All buildings, except the museum, feature fragmented façades, reflecting an architectural approach that breaks the city’s structural monotony and offers a freer, more dynamic environment. The landscaped areas between the buildings provide spaces where visitors can both relax and participate in activities such as fabric dyeing at designated outdoor activity tables.

The project aims to serve not only the local community, but also researchers working in the field of sustainable development and all individuals interested in recycling and creative reuse—offering an accessible and inspiring environment for all.
