INTERPURGA CITY

This project is inspired by Adelma, one of the cities described in Invisible Cities, and explores a creature and the urban system in which is exists throughout its life cycle. The project is set in a fictional city that includes metaphorical references to real life rather than a specific physical location. The city represents the feeling of being trapped between emotions and the effect of history that repeats itself within the city. the main idea of the project is a city designed around a constant loop. The creature living in the city believes that each time it awakes up, it is entering a new beginning. However the city always functions the same way, forcing the creature to repeat the same cycle again and again. This creates a contrast between the idea of change and the reality pf repetition. The city appears familiar yet never fully understood. The structure of the city is labyrinth-like and symmetrical. Open, close, semi-open, and semi-closed spaces are equally distributed, creating a balanced but confusing spatial experience. The city can be considered relatively bright, but this brightness does not bring clarity. Instead, it highlights the repetition and the sense of being stuck in the same system. The user of the city is a creature called Purgator. During the day, Purgator gathers energy and produces objects. Some of these productions are useful, while others are useless or even harmful. At times, Purgator spends time with objects that damage it, and sometimes it exchanges them for its own benefit. Throughout the day, it remains active and productive. However, when the day ends and Purgator enters the final space, everything resets. When it wakes up the next day, nothing is the same, because it cannot remember what happened before. As a result, Purgator lives each day fully, yet always in vain, repeating the same cycle without awareness.
