F25 ARCA401 Urban Mapping

Course Explanation:

During this term, within the scope of the ARCA401 Urban Mapping course, the goal is for students to develop a unique perspective on urban and environmental research. With our project titled “Encyclopedic Mapping,” students will select an urban area (a neighbourhood, district, village, etc.) and, by alphabetising it from A to Z, discover and define the tangible and intangible values of that place. In this process, a multidisciplinary research experience will be gained using various tools, from archival documents to digital data sets, and from architectural drawings to videos and animations. Following this, based on the encyclopedic data created, all the values corresponding to the letters from A to Z will be brought together, and presenting their studies with digital atlas ans ai supported storytellings. In this way, the aim is for students to visualize urban areas and give them a new context by using different representation techniques.
