THE VIVACIOUS VOID / GÖKSU YILDIRIM

Project Title: The Vivacious Void: Educational Extension Museology as a Bridge between Conservatory and City

Abstract: This project redefines the courtyard not merely as a passive void, but as an active communication medium that establishes dialogue between building masses. Acting as a physical and pedagogical continuation of the MSGSÜ Conservatory, the museum operates under the concept of “Educational Extension Museology.” Unlike traditional models that display only finished objects, this concept makes the entire cycle of production, learning, and exhibition visible to the public.

By rendering the educational process transparent, the architecture invites society inside, serving as a bridge that closes the gap between the Conservatory and the urban fabric. In this spatial narrative, the visitor ceases to be a passive spectator and transforms into an active participant in the artistic process.

Programmatic Strategy: The spatial organization challenges the static museum model by dividing the experience into three continuous phases:

Pre-Museum (Production): Dedicated to preparation, rehearsal, and creation. These are flexible, semi-open environments (workshops, research rooms) where the labor of art is exposed.

Museum (Learning): The core zone for public engagement and performance. These neutral yet experiential spaces (exhibition halls, transition galleries) focus on the transmission of knowledge.

Post-Museum (Interaction): A democratic zone for maturation and social encounter. Designed as discussion lounges and reading corners, this area encourages reflection and debate following the exhibition experience.
