This project is a social housing proposal located in Talas district of Kayseri, developed around the housing+ concept. Rather than addressing housing solely as a residential need, the project aims to create a holistic living environment that supports production, sharing, and social interaction. An internal street positioned between the two blocks is designed as an alternative pedestrian route to the surrounding L-shaped road, functioning as a social spine that strengthens everyday encounters and walkability within the site.
The project consists of two three-storey residential blocks. The housing program includes a total of 17 dwelling units with an average size of 80 m², offering varied spatial configurations to accommodate different user profiles. This diversity moves away from the conventional uniformity of social housing and promotes a more inclusive and flexible living model. Except for the ground floor of the block facing the main road, all floors are dedicated to residential use.
The “+” component of the housing+ concept is located on the ground floor of the road-facing block. This level accommodates studio spaces designed for both students and professionals working in visual design fields such as architecture, graphic design, painting, and sculpture. The studios are divided into two distinct types based on their functional requirements. One group supports clean and precise production processes such as technical drawing and computer-based design, while the other is specifically designed for activities like model making, sculpture, and painting, requiring industrial ventilation and more robust working conditions. In both studio areas, suspended material cabinets are integrated to encourage material sharing, allowing unused resources to be accessed by others in need and fostering a collective production culture.
The project is supported by an underground parking facility and encompasses a total enclosed area of 1,564 m². By integrating housing, productive spaces, and a socially active street, the proposal offers an alternative living scenario that prioritizes community interaction and creative production within the urban context of Talas.
