PROCESSUAL MORPHOGENESIS  / ESRA KARAKUŞ

This project proposes a new type of museum that shifts the focus from displaying finished artworks to revealing the processes, stories, and human interactions behind artistic production. Rather than functioning as a conventional white cube, the museum is conceived as a living and continuously evolving system where art is made visible through time. 

Located within a complex urban and topographic context, the form of the building emerges directly from the landscape. Existing trees and contour lines are traced and transformed into architectural elements, allowing the structure to adapt to the slope and grow organically from the site. The building does not impose itself on the terrain; instead, it follows it. 

At the core of the project are pneumatic bubble spaces that host artistic production, experimentation, and collaboration. These bubbles function as flexible units where artists work openly, while visitors are invited to observe, learn, and participate in the creative process. Upper-level bubbles are dedicated to temporary exhibitions and are connected by colorful ETFE tunnel passages that turn circulation into an immersive narrative experience. 

The museum operates in close collaboration with surrounding cultural institutions. Artworks produced within the museum travel to neighboring museums for exhibition, while their stories, processes, and traces remain embedded in this building. In this way, the museum becomes a narrative archive rather than a container of objects. 

Openings in the shell structure are carefully positioned according to daylight and spatial needs. They allow colored light to enter production spaces, animate public areas such as the café and ground art zones, and partially reveal the bubble volumes on the façade, making the interior processes visible to the city. 

Through openness, adaptability, and participation, the project redefines the museum as a collective space where architecture, art, and narrative continuously transform together.
