Located in the Sahabiye neighborhood of Kayseri, Nexus Culinary is designed as a Community-Centered Educational Hub that brings together learning, production, and social interaction through the shared culture of food. The project responds to the need for educational environments that extend beyond conventional classroom settings by creating direct connections between students and the local community.
The proposal functions primarily as a gastronomy school, providing spaces for culinary education, practical training, workshops, and collaborative learning. The design is based on the idea that gastronomy is not only a professional discipline but also a social and cultural medium capable of connecting people from different backgrounds. For this reason, the project integrates a publicly accessible restaurant into the educational program, creating a dynamic interface between students and visitors.
The restaurant serves as a real-life learning environment where students can apply their theoretical knowledge through hands-on experience. By preparing and serving meals to the public, students gain valuable professional skills while developing confidence and communication abilities. At the same time, visitors become active participants in the educational process, transforming the building into a place of exchange, interaction, and shared experience.
Architecturally, the project is organized around interconnected spaces that encourage visibility, accessibility, and collaboration. Open circulation areas, gathering spaces, and courtyards strengthen social engagement and create opportunities for informal learning. The spatial organization promotes continuous interaction between education and public life, reinforcing the project’s community-centered vision.
Nexus Culinary aims to contribute to the cultural and social vitality of Sahabiye by establishing a platform where education, gastronomy, and community engagement coexist. Through the act of cooking, learning, and sharing food, the project creates meaningful relationships between people and place, transforming gastronomy into a catalyst for collective experience and lifelong learning.
