Muhammed Ediş / Mycellium Innovation Center
The cultural center in Kahramanmaraş is not just an architectural restoration project but a pioneering initiative where sustainability and innovation converge. Aiming to fundamentally reshape post-earthquake resource management, this project focuses on recycling and innovative production techniques to provide environmentally and economically sustainable solutions.
Unlike traditional construction materials, this project utilizes an innovative, fully eco-friendly material created by combining industrial and organic waste with mushroom mycelium. This method significantly reduces water and electricity consumption, ensuring an environmentally responsible production process.
Furthermore, the mycelium-based material allows for manufacturing in any desired shape, offering design freedom while enabling both functional and aesthetic transformation. At the heart of the project lies an innovation hub that embraces an experiential approach, providing visitors with the opportunity to explore sustainable building technologies. Through workshops and interactive experience areas, the center aims to foster individual and collective awareness of recycling processes and alternative construction materials.
Additionally, the cultural center integrates circular economy principles, encouraging local communities to participate in sustainable production and material reuse. This initiative helps reduce waste while promoting creative solutions in architecture and design. By engaging experts, students, and professionals in collaborative workshops, the project aspires to be a catalyst for future sustainable construction methods. Combining tradition with cutting-edge innovations, the center emerges as a living example of resilience, regeneration, and environmental consciousness, redefining the way we build for a better tomorrow.
