Agri-tech -Göktürk Alpaslan Ulu
This project envisions a forward-thinking agricultural technology campus that redefines the intersection of environment, research, and community life. Strategically located in Kahramanmaraş is a city rich in agricultural heritage and emerging technological ambition is the proposal offers an integrated vision that bridges traditional practices with contemporary innovation. The design merges agri-tech laboratories, controlled-environment vertical farming units, interactive educational hubs, co-working office zones, and a semi-open Eco Bazaar that serves as a vibrant interface between producers and the public. All of these programmatic elements are orchestrated along a continuous green spine that acts as the project’s organizing and connective tissue. This spine not only facilitates intuitive circulation between indoor and outdoor spaces but also promotes biodiversity, enhances thermal comfort through shading and evapotranspiration, and establishes visual continuity across the site. The architectural language expresses adaptability and environmental responsiveness. The facades incorporate modular green panels and terracotta shading devices calibrated to the region’s hot-dry summers and cooler winters. These systems moderate solar gain while maintaining visual porosity and dynamic aesthetics. The spatial composition is shaped by varying levels of privacy and openness, encouraging spontaneous interaction among users from researchers and farmers to students and visitors. At the heart of the proposal, the Eco Bazaar emerges as a key public platform, supporting local economies and reinforcing Kahramanmaraş’s cultural identity through market exchanges, seasonal events, and educational workshops. Rooftop gardens and stepped terraces are utilized not only as productive landscapes but also as informal gathering zones that offer panoramic views and social cohesion. Through its multi-layered approach, the project responds to environmental, economic, and societal needs. It becomes a model for sustainable urban agricultural integration, inspiring future developments that value ecology, education, and inclusivity equally.
