The Art & Literature Junction project reimagines the site as a social innovation hub rooted in the literary and artistic identity of Kahramanmaraş. The design integrates the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Cultural Center, transforming it into a central element that links past cultural values with contemporary public needs.
The concept revolves around the idea of a “junction”—a place where people, ideas, and histories intersect. Both physically and metaphorically, the design forms a junction within the urban fabric, inviting interaction and collective engagement. The “Art and Literature Path,” which shapes the overall concept, is interpreted not just as a pedestrian path, but as a narrative experience that leads visitors through spaces of reflection, creativity, and dialogue. Inspired by the existing ‘Literature Road’ in Kahramanmaraş, the project continues this narrative spine within the site, establishing a spatial and symbolic extension of the city’s literary heritage.
By connecting to Maraş’s strong literary heritage, the project provides a platform for public participation in arts and culture. It supports informal learning and creative exchange, fostering a deeper relationship between the community and their city. The space acts as a cultural catalyst—open, accessible, and rooted in identity—where literature becomes a living part of everyday life.
