Culture & Tourism Center-Beyza Yıldırım
The Culture and Tourism Center project is designed to introduce and preserve the rich cultural heritage and history of Kahramanmaraş, offering an engaging experience for both locals and tourists. The center will showcase architectural and cultural values spanning from Roman to Ottoman periods while embracing a sustainable tourism approach that harmonizes with the natural environment. Key historical landmarks, such as the Germanicia mosaics, the Great Mosque, and traditional Maraş mansions, will be highlighted through both digital and physical presentations. Visitors will immerse themselves in the region’s traditions through workshops featuring copper smithing, wood caring, handicrafts, sim glaze embroidery, jewelry making, knife crafting, and blacksmithing, along with gastronomy sessions that introduce the diverse flavors of Maraş cuisine.
Nature enthusiasts will enjoy hiking trails, cycling routes, and ecotourism activities that emphasize the protection and appreciation of natural beauty. The center also integrates modern educational experiences, offering interactive museums, VR/AR-supported virtual tours, and open-air theaters to provide an innovative way of engaging with the region’s history and culture. Markets will support local artisans by showcasing and selling their products, while restored Ottoman mansions will be transformed into boutique hotels, contributing to both tourism and economic development.
By blending traditional and modern approaches, the project aims to create a dynamic and unforgettable experience, fostering a deeper understanding of Kahramanmaraş’s unique heritage. With its focus on sustainability, the center will not only promote the conservation of cultural and natural resources but also serve as a platform for economic growth and community engagement. Ultimately, the Culture and Tourism Center will stand as a testament to the region’s identity, offering a space where history, art, and nature converge to inspire and educate.
