MARAŞ CAPSULE / Şeyda Ziftçi
Maraş Capsule is a multifunctional center that brings together cultural heritage, social innovation and sustainable development, located in the heart of Kahramanmaraş, next to the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Cultural Center. The project aims to offer innovative solutions for the future while preserving the social fabric of the region.
The idea of “temporal layers” lies at the heart of the design. The capsule metaphor representing the past symbolizes local crafts, collective memory and traditional production methods. While spatial solutions representing the present encompass areas of interaction, production and socialization, the future takes shape with innovative approaches combining sustainability, technology and education.
The space offers a sharing and production area open to entrepreneurs, artists, researchers and the local community with workshops, co-working spaces, exhibition and event platforms. It also hosts social development programs, educational supports and networking opportunities for young people and women.
Designed according to sustainable architectural principles, the structure exhibits an environmentally sensitive approach with natural ventilation, rainwater recycling and the use of local materials. In this respect, it respects the climate, material culture and social needs of Maraş.
Maraş Capsule is not just a structure; it is a living ecosystem that connects with the past, transforms the present and shapes the future. While preserving the memory of the city, it allows new stories to be written.
