TEX-NOVA HUB / Ömer Bilgehan
This project, which aims to carry Kahramanmaraş’s deep-rooted textile production heritage into the future with the principles of sustainability and social innovation, transforms the old Necip Fazıl Cultural Center into a multifunctional public production and sharing platform. The focus of the design is to provide an infrastructure where innovative, environmentally friendly and socially impactful solutions can be developed for the textile sector. The center includes research and prototyping laboratories for recycled fabric production, natural dyeing techniques, smart textile technologies and circular design practices. These units are used for both education and production purposes, and enable the transfer of knowledge between young designers, local artisans and entrepreneurs. In the façade design, panel modules produced from recycled textile waste were used to emphasize both material memory and visual identity. In the interior spaces, flexible usage areas were created with textile filtered dividers, acoustic panels and light permeable textures. Open-plan workshops encourage collective production, while public exhibition and display areas open up design processes to the public. In this respect, TEX-NOVA HUB is not just a building; It is a living innovation ecosystem designed as the public counterpart of textile-focused transformation and creative production.
