DAST SAZ: project brief

Nestled in the heart of Kayseri, Turkey, this art center celebrates the region’s rich heritage of craftsmanship and artistry. Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of handmade goods, the center will showcase exquisite pottery, intricately woven carpets, vibrant textiles, and detailed embroidery. Serving as a hub for creativity and cultural exchange, the project aims to inspire both local artisans and global visitors while preserving traditional techniques for future generations. This unique space will bridge the past and present, offering workshops, exhibitions, and an immersive experience into the world of handmade artistry. The name “dastsaz” is persian for “handmade”, it couldn’t have been more suitable to use the persian language since most handmade crafts skills originate in Persia and have migrated from their to multiple areas in the world including Turkey.
