Symphony of Hands / Fatma Koç

The “Symphony of Hands” project is designed to integrate traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistic expression in Kayseri, creating a cultural hub that revitalizes local heritage. Located within the historic site of Kayseri Vocational High School, near Sırçalı Kümbet, the project emphasizes the transformation of craft into art through four key workshops: wood carving, metalwork, carpet weaving, and copper craftsmanship. Wood and metal workshops collaborate directly with the vocational school, providing a hands-on learning experience that bridges traditional skills with modern creativity. Carpet weaving and copper craftsmanship reflect Kayseri’s renowned artisanal heritage, with spaces dedicated to turning these crafts into artistic outputs.

A key feature of the project is the elevated cultural route, which starts from Döner Kümbet and weaves through the site, circling Sırçalı Kümbet. This pathway transforms into multifunctional spaces such as amphitheaters, workshop connections, and exhibition areas, offering dynamic interactions between visitors, students, and artisans. The ramp descends into exhibition zones and leads to the auditorium, creating a seamless journey through art and craft. The project aims to foster a dialogue between past and future, transforming Kayseri’s rich craftsmanship into a thriving cultural and artistic legacy.
