TRANSIENCE / Hale Tat

The project focuses on creating a memorial and experiential space that reflects the challenges and emotions of the mübadele. Inspired by the historical act of preserving memories through photography, the design incorporates a symbolic experiential bridge that evokes the arduous sea voyage endured during the population exchange. This bridge is connected to a ramp, offering visitors a tactile and physical experience of the mübadele, blending memory, struggle, and reflection.

Residents of Sinasos, before leaving their homeland, captured photographs to preserve their memories. These moments of farewell and longing form the foundation of the design. Visitors traverse an experiential bridge that mimics the physical and emotional hardship of crossing the sea during the mübadele. As they move through the ramp and bridge, they are surrounded by curated historical photographs and installations, immersing them in the stories of departure and resilience.

The space transforms into a path of remembrance, where visitors connect with the struggles of the past, while the bridge’s incline and tactile features evoke a sense of endurance, encouraging reflection on the shared human experience of migration.
