PLAY is the WAY!
The Museum+ project started with understanding the proposed project’s environment through analyses and research. As a result of that work a new typology for Üngüt Neighborhood was designed. The new design for the neighborhood inspired from an article about the children’s dream street. It was surprising that what they dream about for a street is very similar to street design guides can be founded in academic articles about city planning. The design process shaped around the statement that “maybe, it is the time for listen to them”. The neighborhood is considered as a playground for children. It is safe, accessible, offers different activities and green as they wanted. For the next step, the museum design, what children do is questioned. They PLAY! As a part of the newly designed neighborhood, a place for children to PLAY was aimed at designing. While integrating the PLAY concept into a museum, ART played a key role. With ART and PLAY concepts the museum offers an ADVENTURE to children of different ages. For the 3- 6 years old children a maze consisting of different art pieces hidden inside is designed. For the 7- 12 years old children a time tower consisting of different art movements and a different game according to movement is designed. These two towers connected with a temporary exhibition space which is accessible with ramps inside of these two towers. For the 0- 2 years old babies, a texture room consisting of paintings with charming and attractive colors and sculptures which have different textures to feel and experience is designed. Also, a slide tower is situated near the entrance and a theatre is situated near the slide tower. A row of coffee shops and art supplies shops were placed on the street as a part of museum. At the end of this row a library is designed for both children and public use. Also, a workshop/art class studio designed and to exhibit outcomes of the studio a hall of fame is designed. And the motto of the ARTVENTURE is “This museum is a clarion call for the vital role of art, creavity, culture and Play in childrens life”
