Located in Üngüt Neighborhood, this Art & Craft concept museum is designed not only as an exhibition space, but also as a cultural and social hub that strengthens neighborhood relations and reinterprets the spirit of sharing through architecture. Rooted in Maraş’s long-standing tradition of solidarity, the museum spatially reflects this spirit, encouraging residents and visitors to engage, produce, and share together. It aims to foster a sense of community and belonging, turning the everyday act of visiting a museum into an interactive social experience.
The core concept focuses on reviving traditional craftsmanship—particularly copper and woodwork—within a contemporary setting. These crafts are not only exhibited but also practiced in open workshops, allowing the museum to serve as a living archive of Maraş’s artisanal heritage. The spatial layout, reminiscent of a traditional bazaar, emphasizes continuity and daily interaction with craft, making the act of creation visible and accessible.
Targeting primarily university students, the museum invites young people to explore local culture, participate in workshops, and take part in a shared production culture. However, its inclusive approach embraces all age groups and social backgrounds, underlining values like generosity, cooperation, and cultural continuity.
Architecturally, the structure consists of two main volumes connected by a bridge along a 20-meter pedestrian axis with a water element. Drawing inspiration from traditional Maraş houses and bazaars, the building features stone, plaster, and occasional wooden details, ensuring harmony with its context. Beyond exhibition areas, the museum also houses workshops, a library, a restaurant-café, a conference hall, and local product sales points—blending culture, education, and daily life in one cohesive space.
