RESONANCE MUSEUM / Hatice Sude Büyükbakırcı
Resonance Museum is a contemporary museum project that aims to keep the rich oral and musical heritage of Kahramanmaraş alive. The project aims to transfer oral culture elements such as folk tales, folk songs, epics and traditional music to future generations. The museum offers visitors both learning and interaction opportunities with its permanent and temporary exhibition areas, music experience rooms, research center and instrument production workshop. The structure, which appeals to all age groups, offers an educational and experiential environment especially for children and young people through interactive workshops, concerts and cultural events. Located in Üngüt Neighborhood, the museum establishes a strong relationship with the schools, small tradesmen and developing social fabric in the region. The advantage of the region in terms of transportation strengthens the integration of the museum with the urban context. However, problems such as inadequate infrastructure, traffic problems and lack of green areas brought about by rapid urbanization were taken into consideration within the scope of the project and the museum was designed as a social and cultural solution proposal against these problems. Natural and historical elements such as old trees and mounds in the vicinity were associated with the memory spaces of the project and placed at the center of the spatial narrative. Resonance Museum aims to leave a permanent mark on the city’s memory, like an echo that carries the voice of the past to the present.
