SENSE-LINE MUSEUM / Hasibe Feyza Şahin

The “Sense-Line” project aims to transform Kahramanmaraş’s Üngüt Neighborhood into a multifunctional public center integrated with cultural heritage. With the trade route around the museum, this center; preserves the handicrafts, taste, smell and material memory of the past, and brings users together with an active sensory experience. Museum+ goes beyond the classical exhibition concept and offers an interactive and experience-oriented structure that makes the visitor a part of the memory.
The project has an inclusive space program that brings together local people, tradesmen, young people, academics and visitors. The functional organization of the structure is shaped around craft workshops, taste and smell exhibitions, 3D memory maps, education areas and gallery spaces representing common memory. Users perceive the space not only visually but also multi-sensorily by walking between these areas via a defined “scent route”.
Architecturally, the structure; It was designed with a mass understanding that is enriched with open and semi-open transitions, contemporary but respectful of the local texture. Plans at different elevations and permeable façade layout create a seamless relationship between interior and exterior spaces. The balance of red and white volumes is both a symbolic and guiding design element.
“Sense-Line” is a new generation city museum that appeals to the senses, combining the production culture of the past with today’s user experience.
