TOUCHING THE KAYSERI CASTLE / Sedef Gürtepe
Temporal Contact with Kayseri Castle
A bridge from the past to the future
This project aims to create a contact space at the intersection of Kayseri Castle’s historical heritage and the digital age. Through a temporal gap, a modular system placed on the castle walls offers visitors an experience of “contact” with different historical layers. The traces of the past are combined with artistic projections of the future.
Support System: Cantilevered
The modular system used in the project is supported by cantilever arms extending from the upper edge of the wall, without causing any damage to the fortress/castle.
As it does not touch the ground, this lightweight structure enables a respectful interaction with the historic castle.
Scenario: Experience Between Layers at Kayseri Castle
This project aims to create a visitor experience that connects the past and the present by using digital tools to explore the historical layers of Kayseri Castle. Visitors discover different time periods through “Time Tunnel” modules and see modern artistic interpretations of history in “Digital Art Gallery” spaces. The goal is to protect the historic building by not touching it directly, while using new technology to tell its story and build a modern space of memory.
Flow of the Scenario
