PAXORA \/ Nesibe Dilan Yi\u011fit<\/h3>\n

What is a dwelling? What is needed for a place to be a dwelling? Thes questions were asked at the beginning of the project to understand the design challenge. \u201c… <\/span>bauen<\/span> also means at the same time cherish and protect, to preserve and care for, specifically to till the soil, to cultivate the vine.\u201d In the light of Heidegger\u2019s thinking, the question \u201cwhat is most cherished in <\/span>Sinasos<\/span>?\u201d was asked to design a \u201cdwelling\u201d for the area. Area selection was made after the question was answered as \u201creligion and nature<\/span>\u201d.<\/span> Area between two churches was selected in the aim of bringing both religions, <\/span>Islam<\/span> and Christianity, together as it was always like in <\/span>Sinasos<\/span>. After area selection was made, a groundscraper which blends with nature was designed. As the area was surrounded by natural beauty \u201cfairy chimneys,\u201d form decision was made according to formations of them.<\/span> Two forms were <\/span>located<\/span> to the sides, one is near to cave church and other one according to <\/span>qibla for mosque area. <\/span>Common<\/span> area was placed between fairy chimney areas <\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> t<\/span>he<\/span> dwellings<\/span> inside the design<\/span> were<\/span> made<\/span> to see fairy chimneys all over the place<\/span> to make<\/span> the visitors feel the atmosphere of the area<\/span>. Roof structure was decided with roof opening to get the natural sunlight in gallery spaces, workshops, and dwellings. Central square was designed in the middle to create an environment for people from diverse backgrounds to interact and socialize.<\/span> As a route between the churches pass through this square, visitors could experience the activities of different religion <\/span>while<\/span> passing this route.\u00a0<\/span> with this design, connection point for both Christians and Muslims were created for them to <\/span>experience<\/span> the other religion too.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
