SCAFFROLD \/ Esra Han\u0131m Ert\u00fcrk<\/h3>\n

Scaffold Interventions for Cultural Revitalization \u2013 Kayseri Castle Wall<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This project proposes a series of scaffold-based modular interventions along the historical wall of Kayseri Castle, aiming to reactivate the cultural void inside the castle and the underutilized Artist Street outside. Each unit is carefully designed to serve specific musical and social functions, reprogramming the wall as an active transitional space.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the\u202f<\/span>center<\/span><\/b>, the historic\u202f<\/span>bur\u00e7<\/span><\/b>\u202facts as a\u202f<\/span>vertical circulation core<\/span><\/b>, equipped with an\u202f<\/span>elevator<\/span><\/b>\u202fthat connects different levels and bridges the two sides. This central tower becomes a threshold \u2014 not only physically, but socially and acoustically.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u202f<\/span>left wing<\/span><\/b>\u202fhosts a\u202f<\/span>rehearsal zone<\/span><\/b>\u202fand a\u202f<\/span>semi-open performance courtyard<\/span><\/b>, allowing musicians to practice and perform in more informal, flexible settings. These spaces encourage public interaction and spontaneous cultural exchange.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u202f<\/span>right wing<\/span><\/b>\u202fincludes a\u202f<\/span>concert hall<\/span><\/b>\u202fand a\u202f<\/span>social caf\u00e9<\/span><\/b>, serving as the main venue for structured events and audience gathering. These units are oriented toward the public and designed to create acoustic and visual continuity between the historical wall and new cultural activities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All units are based on a\u202f<\/span>modular scaffold system<\/span><\/b>, which allows reversible construction, minimal damage to the heritage wall, and flexibility in usage.
