THE LIVING WALL<\/span> \/ Nergis Zeynep \u00c7\u0131nar<\/span><\/h3>\n

My starting point for this project was Kayseri Castle. The castle is not only a defense structure; it is also a carrier of time, craft and identity. So I reinterpreted the values represented by this historical structure with modules.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are three basic modules in the project and each of them establishes a symbolic connection with the castle:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The C-shaped module in the center represents the historical continuity of the castle. This area was designed as a \u201cTime Travel Room\u201d. The C shape symbolizes the meandering progression of time and, like the castle, creates a narrative that flows from past to present. Visitors experience the history of the castle by walking through this space. The module on the left works as a marbling workshop and exhibition space. This module brings the art production that existed in the castle in the past to the present. Marbling represents change and movement with the patterns on the water, which coincides with the transformation of the castle over the centuries. The module on the right is the ceramic workshop and kiln room. The shaping and firing process in ceramics parallels the stone structure of the castle, which has been shaped over time. The fact that the kiln is visible reinforces the theme of transformation. The project also includes a sales area, information and waiting area and an open workshop platform to support daily use. These areas relate to the social life around the castle.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Material choices are also in line with the concept. Concrete represents the solidity of the castle. Wooden railings reflect the human scale and warmth. Transparent glass provides permeability, strengthening the inside-outside relationship .\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

My aim in this project was to create not just a building, but a spatial narrative that carries the past into the present and offers an experience. I reinterpreted the history of Kayseri Castle through craft and architecture.<\/span> \"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
