Course Explanation:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Within the scope of the course, it is aimed to explain the tools and methods of urban design and planning in line with the principles of Urbanism, to explain the effects of the urban environmental relations on design and the significance of spatial data in the development of cities, to develop skills to analyse space and reveal problems by using techniques, and to make theoretical explanations about urban studies scaled settings. The course introduces the dimensions of urban planning and design as well as the built, natural, and social environments in relation to the production of urban space. The course involves a design exercise to establish a relationship between urban and architectural scales. An urban studies experiment will be carried out by examining data obtained through spatial analysis methods in the selected urban space. Weekly in-class activities and theoretical lectures will support the planning process. The fundamental aim of the work, which will progress both as a group and individually, is to understand, comprehend and interpret a part of the city. This course, which will convey the preliminary steps for urban and architectural design, presents a holistic approach. Within the scope of this course, the approach to the city will start from the macro scale and will proceed in the form of theoretical lectures and weekly assignments. A field trip will be organized, data on the site will be collected, analyses will be examined and regional decisions will be decided with using the techniques of synthesis and scenario. At the end of the semester, it will be concluded with urban decisions on part of the city.<\/p>\n
