The Spatial Continuum<\/em> proposes a community-oriented housing model that integrates a public social function as an extension of everyday residential life. Located near Talas Nation\u2019s Garden, the design aims to strengthen social interaction while addressing diverse user profiles and maintaining a clear separation between public and private domains.<\/p>\n

The additional (+) function of the project is a book caf\u00e9, where the concepts of reading, learning, and social gathering intersect. Rather than merging these functions into a single space, the book caf\u00e9 is divided into two distinct volumes: the first volume accommodates the caf\u00e9 and group-based study areas, characterized by a more active and social atmosphere; the second volume functions as a library, offering quieter individual reading and working spaces. These two volumes are connected through a fluid, transitional space that ensures spatial and experiential continuity.<\/p>\n

This connecting zone serves as a display and resting area where old encyclopedias are exhibited, creating both a symbolic and physical link between the caf\u00e9 and library functions. Acting as an intermediate space, it supports circulation, pauses, and informal interaction, while reinforcing the concept of continuity and collective memory. The fluid form of this space guides users naturally from one function to the other without forcing a single fixed circulation route, allowing flexibility in use.<\/p>\n

Residential units are located on the upper floors and consist of 8 houses in total, designed for different user groups: students, families with one child, and families with two children. Three housing typologies respond to varying spatial and social needs. Public access to the book caf\u00e9 is separated from residential circulation through distinct entrances and a controlled vertical core, ensuring privacy and security for residents.<\/p>\n

Structurally, the project is organized with consistent column placement and shear walls to maintain continuity across floors and to support clear interior layouts. Overall, the project emphasizes flow, continuity, and programmatic layering, offering a housing environment that supports both individual living and collective social experience.<\/p>\n
