INTERGENERATIONAL\u00a0COURTYARD-\u00a0Social\u00a0Housing Connected by a Film Studio<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>It transforms social housing from a simple shelter into a living environment that fosters memories, stories, and cultural production. It’s a social housing project integrated with a Plus Function building, creating an integrated, community-oriented environment. The structure consists of living units positioned above a film studio. The film studio enhances the use of\u00a0common areas\u00a0and strengthens social interaction. This concept transforms the project from a monotonous residential area into a community-oriented, productive living space.<\/span><\/p>\n

The building has a square form and includes a basement with a capacity for 9 cars. There is also a storage area, a shelter, and a technical room in the basement. The entrance to the film studio is from the north and east of the ground floor, with a secondary street connecting these two entrances. The residential entrance is from the west, creating a secure access area. Access to the meeting and workshop area, shared with the film studio, is provided from the residential entrance. There is also an entrance to this meeting area from the film studio.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The heart of the structure was defined as a centrally\u00a0located\u00a0apartment surrounded by amber-colored glass. A film studio was placed here on the ground floor, and this studio, utilizing the height of the second floor, created a gallery space. This central area was further enhanced by a courtyard located on the third floor, creating a shared central point. The reason for placing the courtyard on the third floor was to reduce the surrounding height and isolate the sound generated by the film studio. The main circulation in both the residences and the film studio was determined to be around the apartment. This allowed sufficient light into the corridors, and the facades of the residences were integrated into the exterior walls.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Three different floor plan types were implemented for the housing units: housing for the elderly, housing for the younger population, and housing for nuclear homes. This allowed people of different ages to socialize and share experiences together in shared spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n

WHY A FILM STUDIO?<\/span>
\nThe area is surrounded by historic buildings, creating\u00a0a strong sense\u00a0of nostalgia.<\/span>
\nWhen this nostalgia meets\u00a0Ye\u015fil\u00e7am\u00a0(Turkish cinema) culture, it creates a meaningful social gathering space, especially for the older residents of the neighborhood.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
