Located in the heart of Sahabiye, Kayseri, “A Community-Centric Educational Hub” is an innovative architectural intervention designed as a technology-driven ‘Digital Village Institute’. The design successfully bridges the historical gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary technology by establishing a highly interactive, symbiotic community that closely connects master artisans, technical high school students, and local neighborhood visitors.
The core mission of the hub revolves around the progressive concept of “Production within Education.” The facility specifically focuses on advanced robotics coding alongside the co-design and production of modular robotic search-and-rescue units. This specialized program serves a critical societal purpose, directly aimed at fostering national resilience against earthquakes through localized technological innovation. By intentionally integrating vocational training with hands-on manufacturing, the architectural layout transforms the classical educational school model into an active, productive urban catalyst.
Architecturally, the project responds to a comprehensive site and pedestrian axis analysis that respects Sahabiye’s identity as a “Living Archive.” The overall spatial organization is developed through a rigorous form-finding process, resulting in an open, courtyard-centered composition that invites public interaction while maintaining dedicated zones for focused technical learning and fabrication. The ground floor layout is highly permeable, seamlessly integrating major pedestrian routes with a vibrant public landscape.
The building program is systematically distributed across a functional basement, a spacious ground floor, and two upper floors. In sections, the interior volume is defined by a striking multi-story gallery void. On the ground floor, this creates a grand, high-ceilinged foyer that flexibly doubles as an exhibition space. The floor slabs of the two upper levels intentionally do not extend into this zone, leaving a dramatic vertical openness that maximizes natural daylight and facilitates visual connections across different production stages to create a sustainable, production-based future for Sahabiye.
