Escapecore: Red Jar Retreat

Red jar Retreat is a seasonal retreat project. It is designed to be a quiet and productive place to escape from a busy life. The main idea of this project is to produce from the nature itself . The design uses simple timber (wood) geometry. Wood is a very natural material. Because of the wood, the building feels warm, safe, and honest. The clean lines of the wooden shapes help the building sit quietly in nature. A very big part of the Escapecore idea is “sensory memories.” It is bringing old garden memories in. When people walk inside this retreat, they can touch the natural wood walls. They can smell the fresh air and feel the soft wind moving through the rooms. These small details help people remember good and comfortable feelings.  The connection to the garden is also very important for this project. The building is placed carefully next to the natural garden elements. Instead of using thick walls to block nature, the design invites the garden inside. There are open spaces for producing naturalist things. These openings also let the warm sunlight shine inside. The sunlight changes the feeling of the rooms from morning to night. The garden is not just a picture to look at; it is a main part of the production and architecture itself. In the end, Escapecore is a simple and peaceful design. It respects the productivity of nature and the power of human memories. With its basic shapes and natural materials, it gives people a calm place to slow down, breathe, and rest.

Crafted Heaven: An Escapecore Oba

Located in the natural beauty of the Soğanlı Valley, Crafted Heaven is an “oba” designed with a community building. Built with local stone and warm wood, the structure fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape. The building serves as a peaceful sanctuary for five residents, carefully balancing private isolation with public connection. To achieve this, the architecture is split into two main areas. The first is a secure, private studio meant only for the five core members. It is their safe place to retreat and focus. The second area is an open, welcoming public workshop designed to invite visitors inside. The heart of the project is the shared craft of making traditional Soğanlı dolls. This activity bridges the gap between the private and public zones. The workshop acts as a meeting point where the core members can share their craft with tourists and locals. Ultimately, Crafted Heaven provides a safe escape for its residents while seamlessly connecting them to the community and traditions of the valley.
