TECHCYCLE /Aslı Güneş

TECHCYCLE is a community-oriented educational hub located in the Sahabiye district of Kayseri. The project is based on the idea that education should extend beyond conventional classroom environments and be integrated with production, innovation, and social engagement. Inspired by the philosophy of learning through production and the educational legacy of the Village Institutes, the project aims to create an environment where students learn by experimenting, producing, and collaborating. 

The starting point of the project is the significant amount of recyclable waste generated by the intense commercial activities surrounding the site. Rather than treating waste as an environmental problem, TECHCYCLE transforms it into an educational resource. Students actively participate in collecting, analyzing, transforming, and reusing recyclable materials through workshops, laboratories, and production spaces. In this way, education becomes a hands-on experience that combines technology, sustainability, and creativity. 

The spatial organization of the project is structured around shared learning and social spaces that encourage interaction between education, production, and the community. Educational units, production workshops, and public functions are carefully connected to strengthen relationships among students, educators, and local residents. Separate entrances for students and visitors provide a secure educational environment while maintaining public access to exhibition spaces, the multipurpose hall, and social facilities. 

The fragmented massing strategy responds to the dense urban fabric of Sahabiye while creating a network of open spaces, pedestrian connections, and social gathering areas. These spaces enhance user experience and encourage interaction between different groups within the community. The architectural design aims to make the concepts of recycling and production visible not only through the educational program but also through the spatial organization of the campus. 

TECHCYCLE proposes a contemporary educational model that encourages students to become active participants in society by researching, producing, innovating, and transforming ideas into meaningful outcomes. The project envisions an educational environment where knowledge is generated through practice and where learning contributes directly to both community development and environmental awarenes.
