The Urban Crux
Situated at the intersection of Kayseri’s historical core and contemporary urban life, the project transforms an archaeological excavation into an active civic experience. Rather than hiding the layers of history beneath the city, it reveals them through a sequence of spaces that invite people to descend, discover, and engage.
Organized around a central civic void, the building connects public life above with archaeological memory below. Exhibition spaces, workshops, meeting areas, and outdoor culture programs create a platform where heritage, learning, and social interaction coexist. Inspired by Kayseri’s growing outdoor and mountaineering culture, the project extends beyond a conventional museum, becoming a dynamic civic destination.
More than a building, it is an urban journey—from the city square to the archaeological layers beneath—where memory is not preserved behind glass, but experienced as part of everyday life.
