RADIX is an innovative educational hub designed to reconnect learning with nature, community, and urban life. Located in the dense urban fabric of Kayseri Sahabiye, the project responds to the growing need for accessible green spaces and interactive educational environments within the city.
Inspired by the concept of “roots,” RADIX aims to cultivate environmental awareness from an early age while creating a social destination for people of all ages. The project combines educational facilities, urban agriculture, and public gathering spaces within a single architectural framework, transforming learning into a visible and participatory experience.
At the heart of the proposal is a vertical farming greenhouse that serves as both an educational tool and a productive landscape. This transparent structure allows visitors to observe plant growth, food production, and sustainable agricultural practices firsthand. By integrating farming into the daily life of the city, the project encourages a deeper understanding of ecological systems and responsible resource use.
The architectural form is shaped around openness, accessibility, and interaction. Public plazas, shaded gathering areas, and flexible learning spaces create opportunities for workshops, exhibitions, community events, and informal social encounters. The building acts as a bridge between education and public life, fostering collaboration among students, families, educators, and local residents.
Environmental performance plays a significant role in the design. Natural lighting, passive climate strategies, and integrated shading systems contribute to energy efficiency while enhancing user comfort. The roof structure and facade elements are carefully designed to respond to local climatic conditions and reduce environmental impact.
More than a school or community center, RADIX is envisioned as a living ecosystem where knowledge grows alongside nature. By bringing together education, sustainability, and community engagement, the project creates a vibrant urban landmark that inspires future generations to build stronger connections with both their environment and one another.
