The Theatre Lab project is a multi-functional educational center that brings together education, production, and performance. The project has a system where users receive training and can also produce work, not just a stage structure. With this approach, theatre is not presented as a static viewing experience, and the process becomes visible.
This educational center is structured around three main functions: educational areas, production workshops, and performance spaces. The educational areas consist of modular classrooms where disciplines such as drama, voice, body, and stage techniques are taught. The production units are designed as workshops where stage design, costume, and set production are carried out.
The performance space has a separate entrance and audience, while also establishing visual communication with the production mass. Thus, spatial interaction is strengthened, and the traceability of the process is increased.
Permeability and interaction are prioritized in the architectural design. The aim is for users to be included in the structure with a natural flow. The relationship between light and space aims to reflect the effects of theatre through architectural language.
Theatre Lab is designed as an educational center that supports artistic production, encourages learning, and makes visible the flow from education to production and from production to performance.
