TRANSPORTATION+ POCEKT HUB

This project proposes a contemporary transportation hub that redefines mobility infrastructure as an active urban destination rather than merely a point of transit. The design is developed around the concept of the “Urban Pocket,” a network of small-scale spatial interventions that transform waiting, movement, and social interaction into integrated urban experiences. Instead of perceiving transportation as a linear process of departure and arrival, the project envisions a dynamic public environment where mobility, recreation, and community life coexist.

The proposal aims to strengthen the relationship between people and public space by creating a series of interconnected pockets distributed throughout the site. These pockets accommodate diverse activities such as social gathering, resting, waiting, play, and informal interaction, allowing users to engage with the space beyond transportation-related functions. By encouraging longer stays and spontaneous encounters, the project contributes to the creation of a more vibrant and inclusive urban atmosphere.

A key aspect of the design is the integration of pedestrian-oriented circulation with green corridors and open public spaces. Existing fragmented urban elements are reconnected through continuous landscape strategies, enhancing accessibility while promoting environmental quality. The project also responds to the historical and cultural character of its context by establishing visual and spatial connections with surrounding urban landmarks, transforming previously underutilized areas into active social zones.

Architecturally, the transportation hub is expressed through a lightweight shell structure that functions as both a spatial organizer and an urban landmark. The flowing roof geometry creates sheltered public spaces beneath while visually unifying the different programmatic components. Large transparent surfaces strengthen the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, enhancing visibility, orientation, and user experience.

Ultimately, the project seeks to create a multifunctional public infrastructure where movement, social interaction, and urban life intersect. Through the Urban Pocket concept, the transportation hub becomes a catalyst for public engagement, transforming a conventional transit facility into a flexible, human-centered, and socially active urban environment.
