Nexus Digital Academy is a community-oriented digital arts and 3D production school designed in Sahabiye, Kayseri. The project reinterprets the “learning through production” philosophy of the Village Institutes within today’s digital production culture. Therefore, the building is not designed merely as an enclosed school where students receive education, but as a public production hub where making, exhibiting, experiencing, and social interaction come together.

The educational program of the school is organized around the logic of a digital production pipeline. In the first stage, students learn form and the production process through traditional art practices such as drawing, anatomy, sculpture, and physical model-making. Later, they transfer this production into the digital environment through maker spaces, 3D printing areas, VR laboratories, green screen studios, sound studios, digital laboratories, animation spaces, and portfolio production areas. In this way, the learning process becomes a holistic production experience that continues from handcraft to digital production and final presentation.

The public program of the project connects this educational structure with the city. The e-sports arena, surrounded by digital screens, functions not only as a gaming space but also as a digital exhibition, animation screening, and event area. The sculpture exhibition area, art shop, workshops, café, digital library, and experience spaces allow the public to see, use, and participate in students’ productions at certain points. Thus, the school creates a visible and accessible interface between education and the city.

Spatially, the project organizes the relationship between students and the public through terraces, passages, semi-open spaces, and functional layering that changes between floors. Instead of creating a strict separation, open areas, terraces, and controlled transitions establish a gradual relationship between learning, production, exhibition, and social interaction. The landscape design also responds to the lack of green public spaces in Sahabiye through walking paths, outdoor seating areas, and shared green spaces. In this sense, Nexus Digital Academy is designed both as an educational institution and as a social meeting point for the neighborhood.
